The city of McKinney announced it will spray for mosquitoes on the west side of the city beginning 10 p.m. June 28.

The decision to treat this area came after local mosquitoes tested positive for the West Nile virus, according to a city news release.

The specifics

The spray area is between Custer Road and Ridge Road with a northern border of Owl Creek Lane and a southern border of Chickasaw Trail.

Residents in the area can expect to see signs posted at major intersections. City officials advise residents in the area to stay indoors and bring pets inside during the spray period, according to the release.

Residents who don’t want spray near their home should contact the McKinney Health Compliance Department at 972-547-7447.
