Omar Rodriguez, McKinney’s new chief information officer, began his role with the city on Nov. 13, according to a news release.

Rodriguez brings more than 25 years of experience in information technology to the role, including 20 years in municipal government positions.

Prior to joining the staff in McKinney, Rodriguez served as an assistant IT chief for Dallas County.

Other roles Rodriguez has held include IT director for Denton Municipal Energy as well as other technology-focused roles with the city of Garland, Texas, according to the release.


Rodriguez served in the U.S. Navy and obtained a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s degree from Lamar University.
