McKinney City Council member La'Shadion Shemwell will host a District 1 town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Dec. 16, according to a city news release.

All McKinney residents are welcome to attend the meeting, the Dec. 10 statement said, and those in attendance will hear updates on various city projects and initiatives.

The meeting will take place at Old Settler’s Recreation Center, 1201 E. Louisiana St., McKinney.

The announcement of the town hall comes as a petition is circulating to put a measure on the May election ballot to recall Shemwell from office. The petition, which began circulating in November, states among its reasons for recall that Shemwell has not upheld his oath to office, has violated the city charter and has disregarded the city’s ethics code.

Shemwell represents District 1 of McKinney. For more information on McKinney districts and their representatives, visit the city's website.
