Construction continues on the expansion and renovation projects at McKinney North High School, Malvern Elementary and Reuben Johnson Elementary as crews work to complete all three projects by August 22 when students return for the first day of school.

The projects are funded by the 2011 McKinney ISD bond package for a combined $24.4 million.

MISD officials said the expansion project, currently underway at McKinney North, is the most extensive of the three. The project expands the school’s career and technical education wing with new spaces for the aviation program as well as health services classes such as physical therapy.

The expansion also adds new collaborative spaces throughout the campus for additional flexibility for teachers and students.

Upgrades to fine arts facilities, including an expanded band hall as well as projects in the athletics department such as a new wrestling room, are also underway.
