Reggae Jerk Hut, a new Caribbean-inspired restaurant, is expected to open in south McKinney in early June, co-owner Marsha Telfer said.

The veteran-owned restaurant, located at 7001 S. Custer Road, Ste. 600, McKinney, will offer Jamaican food including oxtail and the restaurant’s signature jerk chicken. The restaurant will also offer handmade Caribbean-inspired cocktails, including rum punch.

The restaurant is owned by Telfer and her husband, Adrian Telfer. The couple wanted to bring Caribbean food to the Collin County area where there are few options for the cuisine, Telfer said.

“Just wanted to bring the Caribbean-inspired cuisine to the McKinney area since we have such an influx of people moving here from all over,” Telfer said.

The restaurant will feature a “Caribbean feel” with music, art and more, Telfer said.
