A dedication ceremony for McKinney Fire Department Station No. 9 will take place Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. The station, located at 4900 Summit View Drive, McKinney, is the first new fire station in seven years, according to a press release.

"Our city is growing in leaps and bounds, and we are thankful to be able to meet the growth with top-notch facilities and personnel," McKinney Fire Chief Daniel Kistner said in the release.

This facility will serve the northwest part of the city, including the Summit View Lake and Heatherwood neighborhoods. It will also serve as a training facility for firefighters throughout the department, Kistner said.

Training at this station includes a rappelling wall and confined-space training.
