Improvisational comedy shows
The Comedy Arena, 305 E. Virginia St., is hosting live improvisational comedy shows Friday and Saturday. On Friday and Saturday night from 8-9 p.m., the ComedySportz Major League Plater will compete in head-to-head clean and fast improvisational comedy.
The arena will also host The Humor Games Friday night from 10-11:30 p.m. During this improvisational comedy show, comedians will compete against each other in games and scenes based on the audience’s suggestions. The audience will score each comedian and determine the winner at the end of the night.
Red, White and Boom! event in McKinney
The free, family-friendly event includes live entertainment; a parade; classic car, truck and cycle show; and firework show. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. in downtown McKinney with a block party taking place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and car show taking place from 1-5 p.m.
Attendees are also invited to celebrate in the evening at the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch, 6375 Collin McKinney Parkway. Activities at the soccer complex include family activities and food from 5:30-9:30 p.m., a concert from 8-9:30 p.m. and fireworks beginning at 9:45 p.m.

Offices closed for Independence Day
In honor of Independence Day on Tuesday, the following city offices will be closed:
- McKinney City Hall
- City administrative offices
- Dr Pepper StarCenter
- Libraries
- McKinney Performing Arts Center administrative and ticket offices
- Municipal Courts
- Recreation Centers
Some city run services and businesses will have different operating hours as well. A list of these businesses and their hours can be found on the city’s website.
