McKinney City Council voted June 7 to rezone about 12 acres in McKinney from planned development to local commercial.
The tract of land in question is located about 450 feet east along Virginia Parkway and 900 feet south along Coit Road.
The property is vacant and unoccupied, according to the letter of intent submitted to the city. By rezoning to commercial uses, the land will better align with the city’s comprehensive plan and provide the flexibility needed for office, retail and restaurant uses to develop on the site, the letter stated.
Introducing the commercial element in this area opens up some opportunities for development, staff said.
