Collin County commissioners discussed various transportation projects during a meeting Aug. 20, including US 380 and Hwy. 5. Commissioners approved an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to pay more than $222,000 for right of way acquisition for highway improvements along Hwy. 5 from SH 121 to CR 375. The dollar amount approved is the county’s 10 percent share of the right of way costs, according to county documents. During the meeting TxDOT officials provided commissioners with an update on US 380 through Collin County. Ceason Clemens, director of transportation, planning and development for TxDOT, said TxDOT anticipates holding more public meetings in early October. During these meetings two to three potential US 380 alignments will be presented to the public.
