Between Tacos with Cops and a parking discussion at the McKinney City Council meeting, here’s what you need to know about the week ahead:

Early voting takes place Monday and Tuesday


Early voting for the McKinney City Council runoff election will take place Monday and Tuesday with election day on Saturday.

Dusttin Pearson and La’Shadion Shemwell will head into a runoff election for District 1, Scott Elliott and Margaret Harsch will head into a runoff election for District 3, and Derek Baker and Charlie Philips will have a runoff election for the at-large seat.

Candidates needed more than 50 percent of the vote in May to win the election. The May 6 election results can be found here.

Early voting locations will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Here is a list of early voting locations:

  • Collin County Elections Office, 2010 Redbud Blvd., Ste. 102, McKinney

  • McKinney Fire Station No. 5, 6600 W. Virginia Parkway, McKinney

  • McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee St., McKinney

Tacos with Cops connects residents and police


Hosted by the McKinney Police Department, this event invites residents to have a conversation with officers and enjoy tacos. The free event will take place Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Old Settler’s Recreation Center, 1201 E. Louisiana St., McKinney. More information about this event can be found on the city's website.

City Council will discuss downtown parking at Tuesday's meeting


During Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, council members will discuss converting two parking spaces to loading zone spaces near the northeast intersection of Tennessee and Davis streets. The council will also consider converting five parking spaces to reserved spaces for law enforcement only.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at Council Chambers, 222 N. Tennessee St., McKinney. The full agenda can be found online.


National Runner’s Day celebration is set for Wednesday


In celebration of National Runner’s Day, Cadillac Pizza Pub is gathering residents for a 2- to 3-mile run and walk through downtown McKinney. This is not a race and walkers are welcome.
