Between early voting, a public hearing on the proposed reconstruction and widening of Custer Road and protests for home appraisal values, here's what you need to know in McKinney this week.

Early voting begins today for June 10 runoff election.

Early voting for the McKinney City Council runoff elections begins today. Dusttin Pearson and La’Shadion Shemwell will head into a runoff election for District 1, Scott Elliott and Margaret Harsch will head into a runoff election for District 3, and Derek Baker and Charlie Philips will have a runoff election for the at large seat. Candidates needed at least 50 percent of the vote in May to win the election. The May 6 election results can be found here. Early voting will run from May 30-June 6. Voting locations will be open May 30-31 and June 2-3 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Locations will be open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. June 1 and from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. June 5-6. Here is a list of early voting locations:

Public hearing takes place Tuesday on proposed reconstruction and widening of Custer Road.

At tonight’s public hearing, attendees will hear the plans for the proposed reconstruction and widening of Custer Road from US 380 to north of FM 1461. The city of McKinney is working in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation on this project. Draft environmental documentation and technical reports will be available at the hearing. Displays will be available at 6 p.m. and a formal hearing will take place at 7 p.m. at the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 4331 E. Prosper Trail, Prosper. Protest deadline for Collin County appraisal values is May 31.

Residents have until at least Wednesday to file protests with the Collin Central Appraisal District. Filing a protest initiates a review process to determine whether the appraisal value was appropriate. The deadline to file protests in most cases is May 31. If the appraisal notice was sent after May 1, the homeowner has 30 days from when the notice was sent to file a protest. ‘Imagine the Possibilities' tour in downtown McKinney is set for May 31.

McKinney Main Street will host the tour in downtown McKinney from 1-4 p.m. on May 31. The tour will highlight available retail and office space along with other properties for sale. The properties featured will also be available online at www.downtowntx.org. Tour and information packets will be available at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee St., McKinney.
