The specifics
The new owners, who took over Aug. 1, are both former teachers with 20 years of combined experience, Sarah Yonts said. The couple initially found the school when looking for childcare for their own daughters.
“We had toured 19 facilities, interviewed 19 directors all across McKinney and Prosper before deciding on The PREP School of McKinney for our girls,” Sarah Yonts said.
The couple expressed interest in purchasing the facility if it was ever up for sale to the former owner, which resulted in the eventual ownership change.
“The PREP has always been close to our hearts,” Sarah Yonts said. “We obviously felt it was the best place for our kids and the safety, the facility, just all the things checked all the boxes.”
What they offer
The facility offers year-round care for infants beginning at 6 weeks old and continues care offerings for children up to 6 years old through a private transitional kindergarten program, its website states.
The PREP School of McKinney also offers summer camps as well as after school programs for students up to 12 years old with pickup from local schools.
Students at the facility are taught a curriculum program including reading, English, language arts and math, as well as a curriculum covering Spanish, sign language and yoga, Sarah Yonts said.
The facility includes features such as:
- An outdoor classroom
