There were at least 24 shopping centers under construction, three recently opened centers and 23 proposed centers in McKinney as of November, according to a Community Impact Newspaper analysis.

Dirt has begun moving, and walls are being built at the northeast intersection of US 380 and Hardin Boulevard, which will be home to a major shopping center that includes Costco and Hobby Lobby, among other retailers.

What’s next


As more retail developments and businesses open in McKinney, the city’s sales and property tax revenues will continue to increase.
