Construction crews recently started on the second phase of Highland Village’s street improvements. The second phase consists of improvements on Winding Creek, Oak Forest and Dickinson drives as well as Baird and Donna circles. It is expected to reach completion this spring.

The improvements are funded by a $7.15 million bond approved by voters in November 2017 for street and parks improvements. After an evaluation of 126 asphalt pavement streets in the city, staff determined that 23 of those streets were failing, and more than 25 streets were determined to be rapidly deteriorating, according to the city. The final two phases of the street improvements are still in the planning stages. All improvements, which will cost a total of $2.8 million, are anticipated to be completed by summer 2021, according to the city.
