The town of Flower Mound recently installed security cameras around the Hound Mound Dog Park that can now be accessed by the Flower Mound Police Department.

Signs have been placed around the park, which is located at 1202 S. Garden Ridge Blvd., signaling the area is now under surveillance.

Within the last six months there have been eight car burglaries at the Hound Mound even with increased police presence and surveillance cameras.

The Flower Mound Police Department stresses the importance of everyone remembering to take valuables, such as purses and laptops, with them into the park or leave the items at home. In addition residents should lock their car doors. The vast majority of car burglaries occur when valuables are left in plain sight, according to the department. Having cameras in the area does not guarantee the ability to identify and locate criminals.
