The Denton County Transportation Authority recently announced it will rename Old Town Station in Lewisville to "The Charles Emery Old Town Station" to honor longtime Board Chairman Charles Emery for his service to the agency.

“Charles has been invaluable to the agency and was a major factor in bringing mobility solutions to Denton County,” said DCTA CEO Raymond Suarez in a news release. “His leadership and guidance helped shape DCTA into the agency it is today and our bright future that lies ahead.”

Emery, a former Lewisville City Council member, chaired the DCTA board for 18 years. According to the agency's news release, Emery was heavily involved in helping DCTA expand its footprint to include a commuter rail with the opening of the 21-mile A-train. The A-train connects Denton County to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Light Rail system in Carrolton.
