Daniel Jaworski won Highland Village's mayoral election, according to unofficial results from the Denton County Elections Administration.

Jaworski, who holds Place 7 on City Council, won with 63.59% of the vote, or 1,205 votes. His opponent, Barbara Fleming, who holds Place 4 on City Council, had 36.41% of the vote, or 690 votes.

Jaworski will replace Mayor Charlotte Wilcox, who was elected in 2015. Wilcox has reached her term limit as mayor.

The mayor-elect said he is feeling "very blessed."

"This was a hard-fought campaign between two people who are passionate and committed to our city," Jaworski said.

He added that his term would be "very busy" and that he is looking forward to working on the city's comprehensive plan review and the parks and trails master plan.

Council is scheduled to canvas vote totals to make them official on May 17, according to the city of Highland Village. For full election results, click here.
