Improvements are coming to Coppell’s Woodhurst Drive.

The gist

The Woodhurst Drive reconstruction project began in early January, city officials said. The project includes sewer, water and drainage improvements, as well as full pavement and sidewalk replacement. The ramps, sidewalks, street crossings and intersections associated with the project will be replaced to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to project details.

Work is slated to finish by late 2024. The $4.8 million project is funded through the 2020 bond issue.

The background

City staff determined Woodhurst Drive, which is nearly 50 years old, has reached the end of its useful life. The road begins at Heartz Road and turns into a cul-de-sac near Sandy Knoll Drive.

Coppell City Council approved a design contract with Westra Consultants in 2020. Council went on to grant a bid award for reconstruction to Reliable Paving in September 2023. A neighborhood meeting for the project was held in December.
