More construction is planned for Coppell as Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Silver Line project makes progress.

What’s happening?

Construction crews are scheduled to begin work at the Royal Lane rail crossing July 31.

The work will be done in four phases from July 31 through Oct. 10, according to DART:
  • Royal Lane’s southbound lanes will be closed July 31-Aug. 29.
  • Phase 2 is scheduled from Aug. 20-Sept. 19. The inside northbound lane will be closed.
  • The outside northbound lane of Royal Lane will be closed from Sept. 20-Oct. 7 during Phase 3.
  • The final phase will be a full three-day closure of Royal Lane from Oct. 6-10.
The backstory

DART is constructing a Silver Line station in the Cypress Waters area. The 26-mile hybrid rail line will stretch from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Plano, spanning multiple counties. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2026.

Also of note

MacArthur Boulevard near the rail crossing at East Belt Line Road also closed recently for Silver Line construction.

The three-phase project began July 5 and is expected to be completed Sept. 20.

Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route to avoid delays.
