1. State agency allocates $11.5B to Dallas-area transportation projects
More than $11 billion has been allotted for road projects in Dallas over the next 10 years, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Transportation. The Texas Transportation Commission approved the 2024 Unified Transportation Program on Aug. 16 authorizing about $100 billion in spending on roads across the state.

2. Resort with private golf bays, custom club-fitting center announced for Frisco
A new resort with private golf bays and a TaylorMade Custom Fitting Center is slated to open in spring 2025 in Frisco, according to a news release. The Bays Golf Experience and Suites will span 18 acres and will be located near the Professional Golfers’ Association of America headquarters. The luxury resort will feature 24 suites, each with its own private hitting bay, in addition to a 25,000-square-foot putting green and chipping area.

3. Collin College introducing new physical therapy program
Collin College is set to launch a new physical therapist assistant program this fall, according to a news release from the school. The two-year, six-semester program will offer students classroom, lab and clinical experience. More information on the new program can be found on the Collin College website.

4. Live music coming to CityLine in Richardson
CityLine, located at 3661 N. Plano Road in Richardson, is hosting live music every weekend in September and October as part of the development's CityLine Live concert series. Genres include pop, rock, country and jazz, and every concert will be free and child- and pet-friendly. Running from Sept. 1-Oct. 28, concerts will be held from 6-9 p.m.

5. Carroll ISD board tentatively approves one-time bonus for employees
Full- and part-time employees at Carroll ISD could receive a one-time cost-of-living bonus, if the money is available in the fiscal year 2023-24 budget. A special meeting was held Aug. 10 at 9 a.m., and the board voted 5-0 to approve a $2.3 million one-time expenditure that is being termed a welcome-back bonus.
"Teachers are the lifeblood of a ISD, and at Carroll, we're blessed to have, I believe, the best teachers that make this—and many measures show it—the best performing ISD in the state of Texas,” Board Vice President Andrew Yeager said.
