More than five years after Coppell’s Vision 2040 plan was approved, city officials want to gather new feedback from residents for a potential refresh.

The gist

Coppell City Council approved a $74,500 contract with consulting firm BerryDunn during a Feb. 25 meeting. Deputy City Manager Traci Leach said the firm will focus on two objectives:
  • Demonstrate and communicate progress made in support of the 2040 Vision plan
  • Explore whether the current plan still reflects the community’s priorities
Community engagement from the initiative will inform any potential refinements to the plan. Recommendations based on community and stakeholder feedback will be presented to the council for considerations, according to a staff memo.

The framework

The initiative will take nine months to complete and will be completed in three phases, according to BerryDunn’s proposal.
  • Project initiation and management
  • Community outreach, engagement and strategic analysis
  • Findings and recommendations development
BerryDunn is expected to organize 45 community engagement opportunities during the second phase, according to the staff memo. Leach said these engagement opportunities can range from one-on-one meetings to larger community forums.

The background

Council approved the city’s Vision 2040 plan in April 2019. The plan includes a list of goals that acts as a roadmap for the city to follow. Since the plan was approved, the city has spent more than $75 million on projects and initiatives in support, according to the staff memo.

More information about the plan, including a summary of its goals, can be found on the city’s website.
