Lewisville City Council members approved a new contract with CEI Engineering during a Jan. 27 meeting. Under the agreement, CEI will offer engineering and consulting services for redesign of a kayak launch at the nature preserve.
CEI will complete survey, design and permitting services for the proposed project, according to a staff report. The company will also oversee construction and provide administrative support throughout the project.
The details
The project aims to improve safety and accessibility of the site, according to a staff report. City officials included the project as a strategy in Lewisville’s Green Centerpiece Master Strategy plan.
CEI’s concept plan for the site includes building a larger staging area at the parking lot and reducing the launch ramp’s width to 10 feet.
City staff will review project plans as CEI proceeds through the design phases. The full project is expected to take 25 weeks, according to the staff report. The contract was approved in the amount of $99,500 and will be funded from money reserved in the city’s capital improvement program.

Eight items were included on the consent agenda during the City Council’s Jan. 27 meeting. Council members unanimously approved the agenda which included the following items:
- Approval of a resolution calling for an election to be held May 3.
- The action declares an election for places 4, 5, and 6 on the Lewisville City Council. City staff will determine polling locations for early voting and Election Day in the coming weeks.
- Approval of a resolution accepting a 2025 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant award from the Texas Governor’s office.
- The grant awards the city $39,201.74 for its IT Services department to further expand its ability to monitor and control access to the city’s internal network.
- Approval of an interlocal agreement with Lewisville ISD for school resource officers.
- The agreement dictates that LISD reimburses the Lewisville Police Department for overtime costs of two officers per day assigned to work in elementary school.
- The agreement has been in place for years and was updated with new pay rates for Lewisville Police officers.
