The city of Lewisville is launching an effort alongside eight nonprofit organizations to organize at least four monthlong donation drives, according to a news release.

The effort, called Giving is Golden, is part of the Centennial Celebration within the city, which honors its 100th birthday.

The goal of the drive is to collect 2,025 of specific items during four different months: February, April, June and August, per the news release. A fifth donation window in October could also be announced at a later date.

Items collected each month include:
  • Tube socks, excluding ankle socks, for MetroRelief in February
  • Full-size bath items, such as shampoo, body wash and deodorant for Christian Community ActionJourney to Dream and Communities in Schools of North Texas in April
  • Office and cleaning supplies for Serve Lewisville in June
  • Diapers, baby wipes, and new or gently used children’s books for Book Drive for Kids, PediPlace and Health Services of North Texas in August

Collection sites for items will be placed throughout the city, including at City Hall, the Lewisville Visitor Information Center, Thrive, the Lewisville Public Library and the Lewisville Grand Theater.

Additional donation opportunities will be available at some city-sponsored events, including ColorPalooza and Sounds of Lewisville, according to the news release.
