Some city services will close Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day, and the trash collection schedule will shift by one day for Lewisville and Coppell residents.

Lewisville’s City Hall will close New Year’s Day and the Thrive Recreation Center will close at 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve, according to the city of Lewisville’s website. The following buildings and services will also be closed during those dates:
  • Lewisville Public Library
  • Thrive Recreation Center
  • Frederick P. Herring Parks and Recreation Center
  • Lewisville Public Library
  • Lewisville Visitor Information Center
  • Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area
While the Thrive center and LLELA will be closed, the city is still holding a nature hike at Thrive Nature Park from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 1.

Garbage and recycling collection will shift back by one day. Garbage is collected by Republic Services throughout the week. Residents can check what day their garbage is collected through the city website.

For Community Waste Disposal customers living in the Castle Hills area, trash pickup will also be shifted by one day. Residents can check the holiday schedule on CWD’s website. In February changes are coming to Lewisville’s trash services.

Coppell’s City Hall will close Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day, according to a news release from the city. Wagon Wheel Tennis and Pickleball Center and the Coppell Arts Center will be closed Dec. 31 for New Year’s Eve. Coppell Animal Services will close at 3 p.m. and The CORE and Cozby Library will close at 5 p.m.

On Jan. 1, all city offices will be closed for New Year’s Day. The following buildings and services will also close that day:
  • Coppell Municipal Court
  • Coppell Senior and Community Center
  • Biodiversity Education Center
  • Cozby Library and Community Commons
  • Coppell Arts Center
Regular business hours are expected to resume Jan. 2. Garbage and recycling pickup will shift by one day. Recycling and yard trimmings will be collected Jan 2. and trash will be collected Jan. 3. Coppell residents can check the garbage collection schedule through the city website.
