Trash collection fees for Coppell residents are expected to increase 3% in 2025 as part of the city’s agreement with Republic Services.

In a nutshell

The fees were amended during a Dec. 10 Coppell City Council meeting. The increases take effect Jan. 1, 2025 for residents, senior residents and businesses, according to a staff memo.
  • Residential fees will increase from $19.33 per month to $19.91 per month
  • Senior residential fees will increase from $17.39 per month to $17.92 per month
Trash collection fees for commercial businesses will increase 3% as well. The fee paid by a business is determined by the size of its container and how often trash is collected.

The background

Coppell provides trash collection services for citizens through a franchise agreement with Republic Services. The waste collector has provided services for the city since 2014 with a contract renewal approved by city council in September 2020.

The contract calls for a 3% fee increase each year. Under the agreement, Republic Services collects trash twice a week and recycling once a week for residents.

The renewal approved in 2020 extended the city’s contract with Republic Services through October 2026.
