Applicants can begin to file applications with the city for a residential rehabilitation grant at 8 a.m. May 1, according to information published by the city.
What you need to know
Qualifying projects for the program must have a portion visible to public right of way, per information published by the city. Improvements that satisfy the requirements include door replacement, irrigation repair and facade updates, among others.
Applicants are required to submit construction plans before the start of the project along with bids that will be reviewed by the city’s Community Development Department. Work must be completed within six months after approval and a rebate of 50% of construction and material costs is available up to $10,000.
Funding for the program is provided through American Rescue Plan Act funds.

When applying for a grant, individuals must provide the following information and meet the necessary requirements:
- Description of project
- Location of project on property
- Estimated value of property prior to proposed improvements
- Year the property was built
- Copies of estimates and quotes for cost of project
- Homeowners association approval of the improvements, if located in an neighborhood with a homeowners association
- Must be up to date on property taxes, registrations, fees and/or fines

Once the application is filed with the city, rejection or approval letters for a grant are expected to take at least one week to process, according to city information.
