Work crews are addressing erosion issues along Denton Creek in a Coppell park, according to the city’s construction activity webpage.

An interim solution to erosion issues around Denton Creek is expected to take about one month to put in place, during which a segment of trail close to the soccer fields in Andrew Brown Park West will be closed temporarily, said Tiffany Anderson, community engagement manager for Community Experiences. Construction began April 23, according to a city news release.

What you need to know

Anderson said the temporary measure is a solution until a more permanent erosion control measure can be designed and built. The creek bank stabilization will include the removal of downed trees and installation of temporary erosion protection measures, she added.

The work is necessary because failure along the creek bank has impacted the pedestrian trail in the park, Anderson said. As part of the project, temporary fencing will also be installed along the trail prior to its reopening.

What’s next?

Construction is expected to conclude in about one month, Anderson said. No timeline was given for how long it might take to design and construct more permanent erosion control.
