Residents wishing to run for Lewisville City Council in the May 2025 general election can now file for candidacy.

In a nutshell

Places 4, 5 and 6 on the Lewisville City Council will be up for election in May, according to a city news release. Residents can file for candidacy between Jan. 15 and Feb. 14. Those planning to file for candidacy must reside within the City Council district they intend to run for. A map of council districts can be found online.

Other qualifications for office include:
  • Must be a qualified voter
  • Must have lived in Lewisville at least one year prior to the election date
  • Must not owe back taxes to the city
The City Secretary will accept candidate applications in person at Lewisville City Hall during normal business hours Monday-Thursday and between 7:30-11:30 a.m. Friday. Interested residents can find an application form on the city website along with other instructional information for potential candidates.

Up for election


Lewisville City Council members are elected at large to three-year terms, according to the city's website. Council is made up of six council members and the mayor who only votes to break a tie.

Council member Brandon Jones currently holds Place 4 on the council. He was first elected to council in 2016. Council member Kristin Green currently holds Place 5. She was first elected to council in 2019. Council member Patrick Kelly currently holds Place 6. He was first elected to council in 2022.

Looking ahead

The 2025 general election will be held May 3. Early in-person voting is expected to start April 22 and run through April 29.


Unregistered residents wishing to vote need to register by April 3. Residents can check their voter registration status via Denton County’s website.
