The city of Lewisville has seven candidates vying for two positions in the upcoming election.

Mayor TJ Gilmore and May Pro Tem William J. Meridith, who represents Place 2, will both have challengers during the May 4 election.

The details

Gilmore won his first term of mayor in 2021 and has been on council since 2011. He will be challenged by Tiffany Karim, Alexander Davis and Winston Edmondson. Meridith will face challenges from Penny Mallet and Ainsley Stelling.

In addition to council spots, voters will decide on a $263.4 million bond that would cover 24 recommended projects.

The bond is broken down into four different propositions.
  • Proposition A: $6.7 million for firefighting facilities
  • Proposition B: $9.9 million for the Gene Garey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center expansion
  • Proposition C: $47.7 million for acquiring, developing, equipping and renovating parks, trails and recreation facilities as well as acquiring, constructing and installing public art
  • Proposition D: $198.9 million for street and roadway improvements
