The National Weather service has issued a winter storm watch starting the night of Jan. 8 through Jan. 10 with temperatures as low 29 degrees and chances of snow and sleet. According to weather service data, snow is most likely to fall Jan. 9.
CISD maintains an inclement weather procedure webpage that states that during severe weather the district will assess weather conditions and their impact on safety of students and staff. Should the district decide to close school the decision will inform families by the early morning the day of closure, according to the webpage.
The webpage states the district will use the following ways to make the announcement:
- On the district and campus websites
- Automated notification by phone and email to parents and staff
- District social media accounts
- Local radio and television stations
- CISD voicemail system 214-496-8901
Also of note
In the event of a school closure or delay, after school activities will also be cancelled unless conditions improve significantly before the end of that day, according to the webpage. CISD recommends families maintain contact with the coach or activity sponsor.
