Lewisville ISD board of trustees approved engineering selections and guaranteed maximum prices for several 2023 and 2024 bond projects, at the Dec. 9 meeting.

The projects include furniture replacements, renovations, playground equipment upgrades and technology device upgrades across various campuses, according to district documents.

The details

Out of the 2023 bond, Degan Elementary is set to receive a playground equipment replacement. At the Dec. 9 meeting, trustees approved a project contract price with Gliden Industries for $639,730.

The bond also outlined $2,635,967 for pavement replacement at Degan originally scheduled to begin in 2027. Degan was also set to receive regular 20-year maintenance and repairs in the 2025 and 2026 summers, so trustees approved moving the pavement replacement into the 20-year maintenance budget, allowing the work to be completed altogether, according to district documents. Following the decision, funds will be moved and staff will bring forward a guaranteed maximum price at a future meeting.

Trustees approved the purchase of teacher iPads with protective cases for around $1.5 million. Cases will include a keyboard and trackpad and the sale includes a 300-case surplus, according to district documents.

Additionally, the board approved architect and engineer firm Stantec to design furniture replacements at Marcus High School and The Colony High school.

More details

Out of the 2024 bond, the board approved civil engineering firm McAdams for the track replacement project at Forestwood Middle School. This project includes a complete reconfiguration of the track. Now that the engineer is approved, district staff will begin the design process.

The total project budget is $2.5 million and construction is set to begin in summer 2026, according to district documents.

The 2024 bond also allocated funds to replace tennis court surfaces at Flower Mound, Marcus and The Colony high schools. The board approved RLG Consulting Engineers for the projects in September; however, staff have since determined that an engineer was not necessary and the project could be completed through work-order contracts. The board approved the measure Dec. 9.
