Lewisville ISD continues making strides on projects from the 2023 bond.

Voters approved three of seven propositions from the $1.23 billion bond in November. Two propositions allocate funds for technology updates; safety and security updates; and maintenance, repair and renovation projects across multiple LISD campuses and facilities, according to bond details.

One of the first projects the district outlined in December was a $25 million furniture replacement across various elementary and middle schools, 16 of which are scheduled for this summer. Executive Director of Construction Randy Fite presented updates to the board of trustees at a regular meeting Jan. 9.

The details

Elementary schools scheduled for furniture replacements this summer include:
  • Creekside
  • Garden Ridge
  • Independence
  • Lakeland
  • Lewisville Elementary School
  • McAuliffe
  • Morningside
  • Peters Colony
Middle schools scheduled for furniture replacements this summer include:
  • Arbor Creek
  • Briarhill
  • DeLay
  • Forestwood
  • Huffines
  • Killian
  • Lamar
  • McKamy
Campus administrators participated in a furniture fair Dec. 5-7 where they were able to examine furniture options from three different vendors and give their feedback, Fite said.

“That feedback was then used to update our furniture standards for elementary and middle schools,” he said.

The district uses furniture standards to ensure consistency among all campuses, he said.

Furniture items being replaced include:
  • Desks
  • Tables
  • Chairs
  • Stools
  • Sofas
  • Workpads
  • Library furniture
  • Cafeteria tables
  • Storage items
What's next?

The district has been meeting with campus administration to discuss their preferred furniture selections, Fite said. Once those meetings conclude, purchase orders should begin by spring break leading into a summer installation.

The district will embark on a similar process for its high schools after it works through elementary and middle schools, he said.
