Fisher’s resignation, which went into effect Oct. 23, comes as she runs for the State Board of Education District 14 seat against Evelyn Brooks. The election is Nov. 8.
“It has been my sincere pleasure to serve the kids, parents, educators in this community for nearly 10 and a half years as a Coppell ISD trustee,” Fisher said.
The trustees may either call a special election, appoint a replacement until the May 6 election or allow the position to remain vacant until the May election.
The application for Place 7 is open until 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and can be filed online.
“We need public school advocates like never before,” Fisher said during her last board meeting. “This is all about kids.”
