A Firehouse Subs is coming to Coppell after multiple attempts from developers.

Coppell City Council approved a special-use permit for a Firehouse Subs in the Braewood Shopping Center at 150 South Denton Tap Road, Ste. 111.

A special-use permit is required for the restaurant because the site has never been used for food purposes and is located near a residential community, according to the agenda item.

Firehouse Subs franchisee Ryan Franklin said he has been trying to bring a location to Coppell for six years but has encountered challenges such as use restrictions.

“Most people think that opening a restaurant is just finding a space and negotiating it and signing a lease,” he said. “It’s just much more complicated than that when you have probably 15 to 20 sandwich users.”

Firehouse Subs offers a variety of sandwiches and salads. The franchise has over 1,200 restaurants, including one in Lewisville. The Coppell location will offer dine-in and pick-up service, and the hours of operation will be 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Adequate parking is available for the restaurant and would be in compliance with the city’s zoning ordinance, according to a parking analysis. An opening date has not been announced as of publication.
