After nearly 20 years, the Coppell Parks and Recreation Department has a new name and logo.

The department announced it will now be known as Coppell Community Experiences. The name change and rebranding “reflect the department's desire to reimagine the way they serve the Coppell community and continue to meet both current needs and demands of the future,” according to a Jan. 17 press release.

The parks and recreation department was formed in 2003. It was previously the Leisure Services Department, which was created in 1996 in response to the demand for more parks and facilities.

The parks and recreation department experienced growth in the Coppell’s parks and trails system and expanded its scope to include a number of facilities, such as a recreation and aquatics center, a tennis center, a senior and community center, a farmers market and a dog park. Camps, classes, programs, sports leagues and services are also offered.

In 2022, the parks department and the Cozby Library and Community Commons became one team. The integration provided an opportunity to share resources, support, and collaborate on educating and serving the Coppell community, according to the release.

“We offer such a wide variety of services to the community, greatly expanding the purview of traditional parks and recreation,” said Jessica Carpenter, director of Coppell Community Experiences. “Several industries are now joined together working toward the same goal: to provide exceptional experiences to the Coppell community.”
