A Planet Fitness gym in Coppell is slated for renovations after taking over a Texas Family Fitness location.

This comes on the heels of Excel Fitness, an Austin based Planet Fitness franchisee, acquiring 11 Texas Family Fitness into Planet Fitness gyms across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. A project has been filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for renovation of the 24,000 square-foot location.

The work is scheduled to begin May 5 and complete June 30 at an estimated cost of $225,000. The remodel will add additional amenities for the company’s black card membership program, according to company staff. There are no plans to close the gym during renovations.
