Coming soon

American Academy of Aesthetics

A new cosmetology learning center is coming to Coppell, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

According to its website, the location will be occupied by the American Academy of Aesthetics. The existing space will be renovated for the center in the Highlands at Coppell, a business strip along the 400 block of West State Highway 121. Construction of the more than 2,500-square-foot space is set to begin Sept. 2 with a completion date of Jan. 24 at an estimated cost of $300,000.

The filing lists Peck Architects as the design firm for the project. The firm has designed commercial developments along Main Street in Coppell and a bank renovation in Old Town Lewisville.

Costco

A construction project has been filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for the addition of six new gas pumps at the Lewisville Costco.

The project is scheduled to begin January 2025 with a completion date in June of that year, according to the filing. However, company staff did not confirm the timeline.

The Lewisville City Council approved a special-use permit for the project during a Dec. 4 meeting.

The additional pumps will remove 25 parking stalls, leaving Costco with 746 spots. The project will expand the 17.5-foot canopy, replace existing lights with upgraded LED lighting and add the new gas dispensers. Landscaping work will also be done with the addition of shrubbery around the fueling station, according to documents.

The gas station has been in operation since 2004. The addition will help alleviate wait times for customers, according to permit filing from Barghausen Consulting Engineers, who represents Costco on the project.

Dogtopia

A new Dogtopia is planning to open in Coppell.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the dog day care business is expected to finish renovations to a nearly 5,000-square-foot space in the Braewood Shopping Center on Nov. 4.

Owned by local franchisee Angel City Dogs, the new Dogtopia location will offer overnight and long-term boarding, in addition to spa services.
