Dallas Area Rapid Transit plans to offer free rides for people needing transportation to polling sites in the May 6 election.

On election day, voters will be able ride free on all DART buses and trains, GoLink vehicles, the Dallas Streetcar, Paratransit Services, and the Trinity Railway Express between Eddie Bernice Johnson Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station. Free rides will not be available during early voting, which began April 24 and runs through May 2, DART spokesperson Gordon Shattles said.

To get a free ride on election day, voters will be required to show a valid voter registration card. GoLink riders can use the promo code “VOTE23” at checkout to receive a complimentary adult local day pass in the DART GoPass app, according to a DART press release.

On election day, polls in Dallas County will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

During early voting and on election day, Dallas County voters can cast a ballot at any polling location listed on the Dallas County Elections Department website. Three polling sites will be open for early voting in the Lake Highlands/Lakewood area: the Dallas College Richland Campus, the Audelia Road Branch Library and the Samuell Grand Recreation Center.
