Demolition began in late April on a portion of the Lake Highlands Village shopping center at 8698 Skillman St., Dallas. Owner JAH Realty plans to turn the Tom Thumb-anchored shopping center into a mixed-use development with the addition of 85 townhomes on the east side of the property next to Audelia Road. According to the conceptual site plan on JAH Realty's website, possible amenities at the development could include a dog park, a pool, an exercise station, a playground and more. A representative from JAH Realty said once demolition is completed, construction on the townhomes is expected to be done in several phases beginning next year and lasting into at least 2025.
