The city of Fort Worth will gain a seat on the Regional Transportation Council, pushing the city’s total number of seats to four. The city of Dallas is the only member city with more RTC seats at six.

Fort Worth’s representatives include Mayor Pro Tem Gyna Bivens, District 9 Council Member Elizabeth Beck and District 3 Council Member Michael Crain. The additional seat was given to Fort Worth due to increases in the city's population and employment.

Consisting of representatives from the region’s transportation providers as well as local elected and appointed officials, the RTC is part of the North Central Texas Council of Governments and serves as the policymaking body for the region. Their responsibilities include guiding the development of multimodal transportation plans and programs; determining the allocation of federal, state and regional transportation funds; and ensuring the metropolitan area complies with state and federal laws and regulations regarding transportation and air quality, according to the NCTCOG's website.
