A section of Independence Parkway between the SH 170 frontage roads in Fort Worth is closed May 23 to allow for construction work.

The closure will remain in place until sometime this fall, according to a post from the town of Westlake. The closure is needed so crews can build the future SH 170 lanes and the Independence Parkway bridge, the post stated.

Traffic will be detoured to the nearest intersections of Park Vista Boulevard as well as Hwy. 377, according to the post.

The closure is part of the $100 million expansion to a 6-mile stretch of SH 170 from I-35W to SH 114 that will add four main lanes, two in each direction, along with new ramps and bridges, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
