Great Hearts Prairie View, a tuition-free, classic liberal arts charter school, officially opened on the first day of school Aug. 11 for students in kindergarten through third grade.

The school is in a temporary location at 1750 Rufe Snow Drive, Keller, for the 2022-23 school year. The permanent location will be on a 17-acre lot near US 287 and I-35 W. in Fort Worth.

Head Master Ryan Mullins noted the enrollment is about 130 students with 19 teachers. Each core class has two teachers, he said. Next year, the school will expand through eighth grade, and in future years, Great Hearts will eventually be a K-12 location. The school focuses on a nearly "zero-tech" education process and teaches Latin starting in kindergarten, Mullins said.

Great Hearts opened its first schools in the Phoenix area. The charter school also has locations in San Antonio, Arlington and Irving. 817-259-0738. https://prairieview.greatheartsamerica.org
