From 2019-2023, Roanoke’s population grew 19% and Fort Worth’s population grew 7% while Keller’s population declined 2.6%, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released Dec.12.

During the five year period, Roanoke’s population increased from 8,341 to 9,947 people and Fort Worth’s population increased from 913,656 to 976,932.

Keller’s population decreased from 46,813 to 45,598 people, according to the census data.

The U.S. Census Bureau published several other population projections as part of the December 2024 data release. These projections include:
  • The U.S. population was projected to reach 341,145,670 on Jan. 1, 2025, which is a 0.78% increase from 2024. This is the fastest growth rate since the COVID-19 pandemic and the highest population rate increase since 2000. Immigration is responsible for more than four-fifths of recent growth.
  • In January 2025, the United States is expected to experience one birth every 9 seconds and one death every 9.4 seconds.
  • Net international migration is expected to add one person to the U.S. population every 23.2 seconds.
  • The combination of births, deaths and net international migration increases the U.S. population by one person every 21.2 seconds.
The bureau widened its scope with its projections to include the world population, as well. The projected world population on Jan. 1 is 8,092,034,511, an increase of 71,178,087 people—or 0.89%—from New Year’s Day 2024. During January 2025, the bureau projects 4.2 births and 2.0 deaths to occur worldwide every second.
