Roanoke City Council cancels three unopposed races for May 2 election

All three council members will serve a three-year term, according to city documents.

Former Roanoke City Council members Bryan Moyers and Hogan Page stepped down from City Council earlier this year, prompting a special election to fill their seats.

John Pullen, Victor Molaschi, Donald J. Glacy and Jeff Barksdale filed for the Ward 1 seat and Jonathan Ackmann and Ernie Adams file for the Ward 2 vacancy.

Roanoke is a home-ruled city with the city divided into three wards with two council members serving each ward, according to the city charter. Only residents living in that ward may vote on the elected official for that area.

Early voting for the May 2 special election will run from April 20-28. Roanoke residents can check to see if they are registered to vote at the Denton County website.
