The journey for residents who want to flex their community service muscles by serving on their respective city councils started Jan. 18.

On May 6, voters will cast their ballots for various city council positions.

Candidates can file their applications to be on the ballot through Feb. 17. Qualifications and filing requirements vary by city, so potential candidates are encouraged to review election material on their community’s website and reach out to city staff with any questions they may have about the process.

The city of Fort Worth will have 11 City Council positions on the May 6 ballot. They include mayor; districtS 2 through 9, which are currently held by Mattie Parker, Carlos Flores, Michael D. Crain, Alan Blaylock, Gyna Bivens, Jared Williams, Leonard Firestone, Chris Nettles and Elizabeth M. Beck; and districts 10 and 11, which are new and therefore vacant.

Firestone and Blaylock represent Northeast Fort Worth. Blaylock announced he will run in the newly created District 10, while Firestone will not seek a second term.

Open positions on the Keller City Council include mayor, Place 5 and Place 6. Those positions are held by Armin Mizani, Chris Whatley and Ross McMullin, respectively. All positions are elected at large and serve three-year terms. Those interested in filing an application are encouraged to review the 2023 candidate packet.

Three City Council positions, all of which serve three-year terms, will be on the ballot in Roanoke. These positions are for Ward 1, Ward 2 and Ward 3. These positions are held by Holly Gray-Moore, Brian Darby and David Brundage. Additional election information is available at the city’s election page.

In Trophy Club, City Council positions that will be on the May 6 ballot include the mayor, place 1 and place 2, which are held by Alicia Fluery, Greg Lamont and Jeff Beach. Each of these positions serve three-year terms. More information for Trophy Club elections can be found here.


Residents of Westlake will have the opportunity to elect three council members to serve a two-year term on the Westlake Town Council and the Westlake Academy board of trustees.

The Westlake Town Council/board of trustees members are elected at large and represent the entire community. The three positions up for election are those held by Chandrika Dasgupta, Anna White and Tim Shiner, who was appointed in August to fill a spot left by Carol Langdon.
