Jessica Juarez and Tag Green have beaten out both of their incumbent opponents for Keller City Council Places 3 and 4, according to unofficial results from Tarrant County.

Sheri Almond, Place 3 incumbent and the Keller Farmers Market executive director, was up against Juarez, an assistant attorney general, for Keller City Council Place 3. Place 4 incumbent and educational coach Beckie Paquin faced off against Green, an entrepreneur and business owner, for her seat.

Juarez received 3,293, or 56.72%, of the vote, while Almond received 2,513, or 43.28%, of the vote, according to Tarrant County. Green received 3,072, or 53.01%, of the vote, and Paquin received 2,723, or 46.99%, of the vote.

Green said in a statement to Community Impact Newspaper said he is honored to have been chosen for the position by his community and congratulated Almond and Paquin for their “well-run campaigns and for their service to Keller.”

“It is my highest hope that it has been evident to our community that I value people much higher than winning an election,” Green said. “I believe a new era of forgiveness and reconciliation is dawning for Keller and that the reputation for ugly and contentious politics can finally be laid to rest.”

Juarez said in a Q&A with Community Impact Newspaper that some of her goals for the city are to lower property taxes, keep crime low, enhance the quality of the city’s parks and streets, and recruit quality businesses.

“As an assistant attorney general and mother of eight of our younger Keller citizens, I care strongly about the people, the neighborhoods, our city, our state, and I promise to bring my experience and conservative values to serve Keller with the utmost fiscal responsibility and integrity,” Juarez said in the Q&A.
