The candidate filing period for a place on the May 7 local election ballot for city council and school board seats has ended.

Positions are open on the Keller City Council, the town councils for Trophy Club and Westlake and the boards of trustees for Keller ISD and Northwest ISD. The filing period opened Jan. 19.

The filing period ended on 5 p.m. Feb. 18. Here is the final list of candidates who have filed to run for elective office.

In Keller, City Council Place 3 and Place 4 are open. Currently, Sheri Almond holds Place 3, while Beckie Paquin holds Place 4. According to the city’s website, both Almond and Paquin have filed for re-election to their respective seats. Jessica Juarez is running opposite Almond for the Place 3 seat. Tag Green is seeking election on the Place 4 seat against Paquin.

Trophy Club Town Council places 5 and 6 are up for election. LuAnne Oldham holds Place 5 while Philip Shoffner holds Place 6 and has reached his term limit. Oldham will run unopposed for her Place 5 seat, while Stephen Flynn and Wendie Bailey have filed for Place 6, Trophy Club’s website states.


In Keller ISD, places 1, 2 and 3 on the board of trustees are up for election. Place 1 is held by Craig Allen; Place 2 is held by Karina Davis; and Place 3 is held by Cindy Lotton. According to the district’s website, Craig Allen and Micah Young have both filed for Place 1. Davis, Joni Shaw Smith and Julie Nors have filed for Place 2 while Sandi Walker and Chris Coker are running for Place 3, the website states.

On the Northwest ISD board of trustees, places 3 and 4 are up for election. Anne Simpson holds Place 3, and Judy Copp holds Place 4. Stacey Bauer has filed for Place 3 against Simpson and Copp will run unopposed for Place 4, according to Northwest ISD’s website.

Westlake Town Council’s mayor and two council seats are also up for election in May. Laura Wheat is mayor, while the seats of Council Members Alesa Belvedere and Rajiv Trivedi are up for election. According to the town's website, Sean Kilbride is officially running for mayor against Wheat, who is running for another term. Belvedere and Trivedi are both seeking re-election to council while Kim Greaves and David Quint will also run for the vacant council seats.

The last day to register to vote for the May 7 election is April 7. The first day of early voting in person is April 25, while the last day is May 3. The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is April 26.
