Nominations for the second class of the Northwest ISD Athletics Hall of Honor, a program created to recognize those who have made exceptional contributions to school programs in the district, is now open through May 1.

The backstory

According to a district news release, the Hall of Honor was established in 2023. It serves as a vehicle to help recognize many high-achieving student-athletes and teams that have represented Northwest ISD since the district’s inception 75 years ago.

The details

The news release states that in order to properly recognize the various individuals who have left a positive mark on athletic programs, honorees are considered from the following categories:
  • Student-athletes: individuals who have represented a Northwest ISD high school in an athletic program
  • Teams: a full athletic team of a Northwest ISD high school during a specified competition season
  • Coaches: individuals who have coached athletics for a Northwest ISD school
  • Contributors/sponsors: Individuals other than student-athletes or coaches who have made a significant contribution to enhance athletic programs
Nominees will be selected by a majority vote of the Northwest ISD Athletic Hall of Honor Committee, according to the news release.


The induction class will be made up of the following:
  • A coach/athlete five years post-graduation or employment
  • Contributors/supporters as voted on by the Hall of Honor committee
  • One team following a five-year waiting period
