Now that the filing period is over, work begins for those running for Keller ISD and Northwest ISD open school board positions.

In KISD, four people have filed for the two open positions, two for Place 4 and two for Place 5. For Place 4, John Birt and Hayley Taylor Schlitz are running for Place 4. Trustee Chris Roof is not seeking re-election. Bev Dixon is the incumbent for Place 5, and she has filed to run again along with Chris Coker.

Seven members make up the KISD board of trustees. They are elected for three-year terms, and elections are staggered: two places one year, three the following and two the next year.

In NISD, places 5, 6 and 7 are open. All incumbents are running, and all races are contested with other candidates. For Place 5, Steve Sprowls is the incumbent, and he is being challenged by Russel Price, Amanda Smith and Jennifer Stephens. Lillian Rauch is the incumbent for Place 6, and Jon Pendergrass has filed to be her opponent. Finally, in Place 7, Jennifer Murphy is the incumbent, and she is being challenged by Michelle Slater.

NISD board members are elected to three-year terms of office on a 2-2-3 staggered basis.

Early voting will begin April 24. Election day is May 6.
