The Trinity River Authority will be conducting a sewer line smoke test from Feb. 21-25 at the intersection of Bobcat Boulevard and Schooling Road in Roanoke that may affect surrounding neighborhoods.

According to a news release from the city of Roanoke, the Trinity River Authority will blow air and white smoke through manhole openings in the testing area as a response to reports of odor concerns in the neighborhood. Crew members will look for any areas where the smoke may escape such as storm drains, manholes and buildings, which could indicate a problem with the sewer line.

If smoke enters residential sewer lines during testing, it will exit through roof vents of the home, according to the release. Smoke may enter the home due to plumbing issues, but the smoke is not hazardous or flammable, and should disappear quickly, according to the release.

Residents should call the Trinity River Authority at 817-430-4657 if they see any smoke inside their homes, the release states.
